Singer Park Hyo-shin and musical theater actor Hong Kwang-ho have been cast in the original musical "Beethoven."

On the 8th, producer EMK Musical Company (hereafter EMK) announced the full cast for the musical "Beethoven," which will open on June 9 at the Grand Theater of the Sejong Center for the Performing Arts in Seoul.

Park Hyo-shin and Hong Kwang-ho will play Ludwig van Beethoven, a genius composer who struggles to find the music of his soul while suffering the agony of losing his hearing. Park Hyo-shin returns to the role following the premiere in 2023, while Hong Kwang-ho joins the production for the first time.

The role of Antonie (Toni) Brentano, Beethoven’s soul friend who understands his inner world and inspires his music, will be played by Yoon Gong-joo, Kim Ji-hyun, and Kim Ji-woo. Yoon Gong-joo reprises the role of Toni from the previous season, while Kim Ji-hyun and Kim Ji-woo newly join the cast.

Shin Sung-min and Kim Do-hyun will portray Kaspar Anton Karl van Beethoven, a character torn between affection and conflict toward his older brother. In addition, Park Si-won and Choi Hojung are cast as Franz Brentano, while Seong Minjae and Yoo Yeon-jung will play Bettina Brentano. Lee Sang-jun joins as Baptiste Pichot, and Kang Sang-beom appears as Duke Kinsky, adding further depth to the production.

This season, the show drops its previous subtitle "Beethoven Secret" and will be presented simply as "Beethoven." Set in Vienna in 1810, it focuses on the inner life of an artist and his struggle as a composer who refused to stop creating even in the extreme circumstance of losing his hearing.

The musical "Beethoven" will run from June 9 to August 11 at the Grand Theater of the Sejong Center for the Performing Arts in Seoul.
